Sara Hussain

Sara Hussain works at a non-profit in Boston. She was previously an intern at ABC News and Fusion in Washington D.C. and attended Chatham University, where she studied Communication with a concentration in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Political Science. She was originally born in India and moved to the US when she was nine years old. She would like to use her background in media to do profile stories on prolific women of color.

The Freedom Chat: A Conversation with Andrea Daza Tapia

The Freedom Chat is a new video series by Sampsonia Way featuring interviews with journalists and other media workers facing censorship and repression in their home countries. In these Q&A’s, conducted via video chat, journalists talk with Sampsonia Way about press freedom, anti-free speech legislation, and exile. For our third segment we talked to Andrea Daza Tapia, a freelance reporter for Venezuelan newspaper Prodavinci. Three years ago Tapia left Venezuela to attend the Blanquerna School of Communications at Ramon Llull University in Barcelona, Spain. She is now the press officer for the school and continues to write about Venezuela.

For our second segment we talked to Linor Goralik, a journalist, poet, and cartoonist living in Moscow. Born in Soviet Ukraine, Goralik emigrated to Israel as a child and moved to Russia in 2001. She has published several books, including Anyway: Very Short Prose, Martin Doesn’t Cry, and Gendered Woman: The World of Barbie from the Inside and Out.

She attended Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA where she studied Broadcast Journalism and Political Science.
